Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Meets Russian President Special Envoy 

On the sidelines of the Arab Summit held in Baghdad on Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, met with Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov, Special Envoy of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa. The meeting was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Elbrus Kutrashev.
Mr. Bogdanov conveyed the congratulations of President Vladimir Putin to the Iraqi leadership on the successful organization of the Arab Summit, commending Iraq’s role in supporting regional stability and cooperation. He also extended his congratulations to the Iraqi government and people on this achievement.

Ambassador Bahr Aluloom welcomed Mr. Bogdanov and expressed Iraq’s appreciation for Russia’s participation in the summit as an observer member of the League of Arab States. As well he affirmed Iraq’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations and expanding avenues of cooperation in a manner that serves the shared interests of both nations.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on ways to further develop bilateral ties and emphasized the importance of continued coordination across various fields, including political, economic, and cultural domains.

The discussions also touched upon preparations in Moscow for the upcoming Russian-Arab Summit scheduled for October.
