Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Mauritanian Counterpart on Sidelines of Baghdad Summits

Baghdad, May 17, 2025– Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with Mauritania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzouk, on the sidelines of the 34th Arab Summit and the 5th Development Summit held in Baghdad.
The Mauritanian Minister congratulated Iraq on the successful hosting and organization of both summits, and affirmed that Iraq’s presidency of the summits is an important step that reflects its key role in Arab cooperation and its ability to strengthen understanding and collaboration among Arab countries. As well he commended the high level of organization, which showed Iraq’s growing capabilities and strong commitment to joint Arab efforts.
The two ministers discussed the strong relations between their countries and explored ways to develop cooperation in various fields. They emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and activating joint coordination at regional and international levels.
Additionally they reviewed current regional and international developments of mutual concern and stressed the need for continued political coordination to support common Arab causes and promote peace and stability in the region.
