Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Receives Omani Deputy Prime Minister at Baghdad Airport to Attend 34th Arab Summit

Baghdad, May 16, 2025- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, welcomed His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport to participate in the 34th Session of the Arab Summit, which will be held in Baghdad on Saturday, May 17.

Minister Hussein welcomed His Excellency Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and their accompanying delegation. The Minister commended the strong bilateral relations between Iraq and Oman, noting that Oman’s participation in the summit reflects its commitment to strengthening Arab solidarity and supporting efforts to address regional and international challenges.

Minister Hussein appreciated the ongoing cooperation between Iraq and Oman across various fields, emphasizing the importance of further enhancing these ties in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries and contributes to regional stability and joint Arab action.

Additionally the Minister commended the Sultanate of Oman’s role in mediating the ongoing talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that Oman’s efforts play a crucial role in easing regional tensions, promoting stability in the Middle East, and fostering an environment conducive to dialogue and understanding among all parties.

On his part, His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Said extended his thanks to the Republic of Iraq for the warm reception and excellent organization, lauding Baghdad’s active role in supporting joint Arab initiatives and enhancing dialogue and cooperation among Arab nations. His Highness reaffirmed Oman’s keenness to continue bilateral coordination with Iraq, particularly in the political, economic, and security fields.

The official reception ceremony was attended by Dr. Hamid Al Ghazi, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers; Mr. Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al Dulaimi Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry ; and Mr. Qais Al Ameri Iraq’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.
