Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Welcomes President of Somalia at Baghdad Airport Ahead of the 34th Arab Summit

Baghdad, May 16, 2025- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received President of the Federal Republic of Somalia His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport to participate in the 34th Arab Summit, hosted Iraq on Saturday, May 17, Dr. Hamid Al-Ghazi, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, participated in the welcoming ceremony.

Minister Fuad Hussein welcomed the Somali President, highlighting the importance of the visit in strengthening cooperation between Iraq and Somalia. In addition Minister Hussein emphasized the critical role of the Arab Summit, especially during these exceptional regional circumstances, in promoting Arab solidarity and addressing shared challenges.

On his part, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud extended his thanks and appreciation to the government and people of Iraq for the warm reception and generous hospitality, as well he commended Baghdad’s efforts in organizing the summit at such a crucial time, aiming to address regional issues and unify positions to achieve security, stability, and development.

It is worth noting that the 34th Arab Summit represents a significant opportunity to foster dialogue and exchange views on key regional and international issues, reaffirming Iraq’s active role in supporting joint Arab action.
