Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Receives Lebanese Prime Minister Ahead of Arab Summit in Baghdad

Baghdad, Friday, May 16, 2025- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic, Dr. Nawaf Salam, upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport to participate in the 34th Arab Summit, which will be hosted in Baghdad on Saturday, May 17, accompanied by Lebanon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Youssef Raji.

The Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Hamid Al Ghazi, also took part in the reception ceremony. Minister Hussein welcomed Prime Minister Salam, emphasizing the importance of the visit in strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Lebanon, and highlighting the vital role of the Arab Summit in promoting solidarity and joint action among member states.

Minister Hussein noted that “holding the Summit in Baghdad comes at a time of exceptional regional and international circumstances, which calls for intensified Arab consultation and unified efforts to address challenges and achieve security, stability, and sustainable development across the region.”

On his part, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam expressed his appreciation to the government and people of Iraq for the warm reception and the significant efforts made in organizing the summit, commending Baghdad’s historic role in fostering Arab unity and building bridges of cooperation among brotherly nations, stressing the importance of enhanced Arab coordination to address current issues and shared challenges.

It is worth noting that the 34th Arab Summit will address a range of political, economic, and security topics aimed at reinforcing stability and development throughout the region.
