Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Palestinian President in Baghdad

Baghdad, May 16, 2025- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the President of the State of Palestine Mr. Mahmoud Abbas, upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport to participate in the Arab Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Baghdad on Saturday.

An official reception ceremony was held in honor of President Abbas, attended by the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry Dr. Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al Dulaimi, Ambassador Omer Al Berzanji, several officials from the Foreign Ministry, and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iraq.

Minister Fuad Hussein welcomed President Mahmoud Abbas, reaffirming the deep brotherly ties between Iraq and Palestine, and commended His Excellency’s participation in the Arab Summit, underscoring its significance in promoting joint Arab action in the face of current challenges.

Both sides emphasized the importance of holding the Summit at this critical regional condition and expressed hope that its outcomes would support Arab causes—foremost among them the Palestinian cause—and help strengthen Arab unity and efforts toward regional security and stability.
