Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives UN Secretary General Upon his Arrival in Baghdad for Arab Summit

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the Secretary-General of the United Nations Mr. António Guterres, upon his arrival at Baghdad International Airport.

Minister Hussein welcomed the Secretary-General’s visit to Baghdad and commended the United Nations’ role in supporting security, stability, and development in the region. In addition the Minister expressed appreciation for Mr. Guterres’s participation in the 34th Arab Summit, which will be held on May 17 with broad participation from Arab and international leaders.

Minister Hussein stressed that the presence of the UN Secretary-General reflects the international organization’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Arab countries and supporting regional efforts to address shared challenges through dialogue and constructive cooperation.
