Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Tunisian Foreign Minister to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, at the Government Palace in Baghdad. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial meeting of the upcoming Arab Summit.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the strong bilateral relations between Iraq and Tunisia and ways to enhance cooperation across various areas. Minister Nafti expressed his pleasure in visiting Iraq and highlighted the deep historical ties between the two countries, in addition he thanked Iraq for its supportive initiatives during Tunisia’s difficult times, and affirmed Tunisia’s openness to any steps that would strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Minister Fuad Hussein welcomed his Tunisian counterpart and expressed his appreciation for his participation in the preparatory ministerial meetings. He emphasized the importance of the distinguished relations between Iraq and Tunisia and the need to further develop them in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries and peoples.
The discussions also dealt with the developments in Palestine, with both sides stressing the urgent need to end aggression and protect the Palestinian people. They also reviewed the situation in Libya and underlined the importance of intensifying Arab and international efforts to support stability there.
In a related context, Minister Hussein emphasized the importance of continuing negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, reaffirming Iraq’s support for any international efforts aimed at easing tensions. He also warned that failure in these talks could have negative repercussions on both regional and international stability.
