Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Comorian Counterpart and Affirms Commitment to Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Union of the Comoros, Mr. Dhoihir Dhoulkamal, at the Government Palace in Baghdad, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the preparatory ministerial session for the Arab League Council.

Minister Hussein welcomed his Comorian counterpart and expressed appreciation for his active participation in the Arab ministerial meeting proceedings, commending the Comoros’ interest in enhancing bilateral ties with Iraq.

In his part, Minister Dhoulkamal appreciated Iraq’s pivotal role in supporting Arab causes and conveyed the greetings of H.E. the President of the Union of the Comoros to H.E. President Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid. He also thanked Iraq for presenting a series of significant initiatives during the current Arab Summit session, aimed at advancing joint Arab action and strengthening regional cooperation mechanisms.

Minister Hussein noted that Iraq’s Ambassador to Cairo will soon assume his duties as non-resident Ambassador to the Comoros, marking an initial step toward expanding Iraq’s diplomatic presence and deepening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting included discussions on bilateral relations and means to further advance them, particularly in the political, diplomatic, and economic spheres. The two ministers also exchanged views on key topics on the agenda of the 34th Arab Summit, hosted by Baghdad.
