Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Affirms Iraq’s Readiness to Host Arab Summit and Reviews Preparatory Meetings Outcomes

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, held a press conference at the Arab Summit Media Center in Baghdad, attended by several local and Arab media outlets.

During the conference, the Minister affirmed Iraq’s full readiness to host the upcoming regular session of the Arab Summit, scheduled to take place in Baghdad on May 17. In addition he indicated that all logistical, technical, and security preparations have been completed, reflecting Iraq’s commitment to ensuring the success of this important Arab event.

The Minister reviewed the series of preparatory meetings recently held in Baghdad, which included the Senior Officials’ Meeting of the Economic and Social Council, the Meeting of Ministers of Trade and Economy in preparation for the Development Summit, and the Meeting of Permanent Representatives to the Arab League. Minister Hussein emphasized that these meetings witnessed constructive discussions and resulted in positive outcomes to be presented during the Summit.

Additionally Minister Hussein shared statistics on the number of guests arriving in Baghdad to participate in the Summit, including media representatives, delegates from Arab and international institutions, and political figures. He noted that Arab foreign ministers have already begun arriving in Baghdad. 

At the end of the conference, the Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all ministries and government bodies, particularly the security and service agencies, for their significant efforts in ensuring the successful organization and hosting of the Summit.
