Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Receives U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad

The Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Mr. Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, received the Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy to Iraq Ms. Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau, and her accompanying delegation on 11 May, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the United States of America and reviewed ways to develop them across various areas.
In this context, both sides affirmed the importance of expediting the meetings of the Higher Coordinating Committee of the Strategic Framework Agreement and the need to activate new cooperation mechanisms that contribute to achieving mutual interests and keeping pace with the progress Iraq is witnessing in the security, economic, and development areas.
The meeting also discussed the importance of holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad on May 17, 2025, and the expected outcomes that would contribute to supporting the process of regional stability.
The two sides also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region.
On her part, Ms. Trudeau expressed the United States’ readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation, reiterating her country’s commitment to supporting the Iraqi government in its efforts to achieve development and stability. She also congratulated Iraq on its efforts and advanced preparations to host the Arab Summit, commending its key role in consolidating regional stability.
