Statement

The Foreign Ministry expresses the Republic of Iraq’s welcoming of the ceasefire agreement between the Republic of India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, considering it a positive initiative that reflects both countries’ commitment to dialogue and diplomacy as a means of resolving conflicts.

The Ministry affirms that this decision represents a wise move toward reducing tensions in the region and paves the way for building mutual trust, fostering understanding, and bringing both sides closer together. The Ministry further appreciates the efforts that led to this agreement.

As well, the Ministry emphasizes that durable solutions can only be achieved through constructive negotiations and adherence to international agreements and laws.

The Foreign Ministry expresses its hope that this initiative will lead to practical steps that enhance regional cooperation, promote the principles of peaceful coexistence, and spare the peoples of both friendly nations the repercussions of conflict—contributing to a safer and more prosperous future for the entire region.
