16th Arab Summit Preparatory Meeting Held in Baghdad, Led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, chaired the 16th meeting of the Special Preparatory Committee for the upcoming Arab Summit, scheduled to take place in Baghdad on May 17, 2025.

The meeting focused on reviewing key preparations for the summit, including administrative, technical, political, security, and media arrangements. Discussions also covered the logistics for receiving official delegations and heads of state, ensuring smooth coordination among all relevant parties.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Planning Dr. Mohammed Tamim, Minister of Interior Lt. Gen. Abdul Amir Al Shammari, Minister of Trade Mr. Atheer Al Ghurairi, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Dr. Hamid Al Ezzi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations Ambassador Mohammad Hussain Bahr Aloolum, and Undersecretary for Administrative and Technical Affairs Ambassador Ahmed Nayef Al Dulaimi, in addition to representatives from other relevant governmental agencies. 

The Committee also reviewed plans for media coverage, facilitating the work of local, regional, and international media outlets, and discussed security measures and the importance of strengthened collaboration among security institutions.

Minister Hussein stressed the significance of hosting the Arab Summit in a way that befits Iraq’s role and status in the region, as well he called on all parties to intensify their efforts to ensure the summit’s success.
