Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Delivers Invitation to Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council to Attend Arab Summit in Baghdad

Riyadh, May 4, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of the Republic of Yemen Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al Alimi, at his residence in Riyadh.

During the meeting, the Minister handed over an official invitation from the President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid to President Al Alimi to attend the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Baghdad, later this month.

Minister Hussein highlighted that the summit comes amidst significant challenges facing the region, which calls for strengthening joint Arab action and intensifying coordination to address current crises. On his part, the Yemeni President expressed his appreciation for the invitation and congratulated Iraq on overcoming numerous challenges and reclaiming its active role in the regional arena.

The meeting included in-depth discussions on the political and humanitarian developments in Yemen. Minister Fuad Hussein expressed Iraq’s support for all that could achieve stability and end the conflict, emphasizing the importance of reaching a political settlement that would pave the way for a comprehensive national dialogue.

Both ministers addressed developments in the security situation in Syria, and affirmed the need to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity and end foreign interference, in addition they expressed their grave concern over the continued escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories, and strongly condemned the attacks and violations committed by the Israeli entity against the Palestinian people, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities in putting an end to these violations and providing international protection for the Palestinians.

As well the two sides underlined the importance of holding the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad as a pivotal event for strengthening Arab solidarity and activating collective action mechanisms to address the political and security challenges facing Arab countries. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Riyadh Ms. Safia Taleb Al Souhail, and the head of Media Department Mr. Fuad Ghazi, and counselor Khaled Faisal. And on the Yemeni side, Foreign Minister Dr. Shaya Mohsin Zindani.
