Foreign Minister Meets his Saudi Counterpart and Delivers Official invitation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Attend Arab Summit in Baghdad

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Riyadh. Minister Hussein handed over an official invitation from the President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to attend the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Baghdad.
The two ministers reaffirmed the deep-rooted and robust bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, expressing their mutual commitment to further strengthening cooperation across various sectors. Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized that the integration of relations between Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia could play a pivotal role in shaping their Arab, regional, and international environment, particularly in light of the significant challenges facing the region.
Commenting on the ongoing negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, the Minister emphasized that a successful outcome could pave the way for new opportunities, while cautioning that failure may result in serious alternatives that pose a threat to the region’s security and stability. Both sides expressed deep concern over the recent developments in Syria, particularly the repeated Israeli interventions. They emphasized that the ongoing instability in Syria continues to exacerbate regional crises and poses a serious threat to overall security in the region. Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein expressed his hope for renewed efforts aimed at achieving sustainable stability throughout the region.
As well the meeting discussed developments in the global oil market, with both parties emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between Iraq and Saudi Arabia within the frameworks of OPEC and OPEC+, and underscoring the need for comprehensive coordination to support market stability.
Minister Fuad Hussein highlighted the current security stability in Iraq and confirmed that preparations to host the Arab Summit in Baghdad have been completed. He emphasized that the summit will address both developmental and political dimensions, underscoring the importance of fostering economic integration among Arab countries.
On his part, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq, noting that joint cooperation between the two countries represents a fundamental pillar of stability in the region. In addition the Saudi Foreign Minister expressed the Kingdom’s full support for Iraq’s hosting of the Arab Summit, highlighting its significance amid the current sensitive regional circumstances.
The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Riyadh Ms. Safia Taleb Al Souhail, and the head of Media Department Mr. Fuad Ghazi.
