President of Egypt Receives Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Receives Invitation to Attend Arab Summit in Baghdad

The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, at AL Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo, on Sunday 4 May 2025. Minister Hussein handed over President El Sisi an official invitation from the President of the Republic of Iraq Dr. Abdullatif Jamal Rashid to attend the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Baghdad.
During the meeting, the Minister conveyed the greetings of the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani to President El Sisi.
On his part, the Egyptian President thanked the Minister for the invitation and asked him to convey his greetings to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister. As well he affirmed his full support for holding the Arab Summit in Baghdad, given the critical circumstances facing the region, stressing the importance of strengthening joint Arab action and affirmed Egypt’s full support for Iraq, noting that he had expressed this support during his recent phone call with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani.
President El Sisi indicated that relations between Egypt and Iraq is strong and historic, based on mutual respect and support for Iraq’s sovereignty, independence, and unity. As well President El Sisi expressed his country’s aspiration to further advance bilateral cooperation, in addition to tripartite cooperation between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan, in light of the urgent need to unify efforts and confront regional challenges.
On his part, Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed that Iraq hopes for broad participation from Arab leaders in the upcoming summit and positive outcomes that will contribute to strengthening joint Arab action and confronting the challenges facing the region, stressing that the success of the summit will be an important step toward achieving stability and development.
Additionally the two sides discussed developments in the Arab region and the common challenges facing Arab countries, as well the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, emphasizing the need to spare the region the consequences of any military escalation.
The Minister briefed President El Sisi on the results of his discussions with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty, emphasizing the common principles and historical depth of the relationship between the two countries, in addition to mutual interests, in addition he affirmed that bilateral and trilateral cooperation between Iraq, Egypt, and Jordan represents a fundamental pillar for achieving stability and development in the region.
The Minister indicated the significant current improvement in security and stability in Iraq, and its positive impact on economic and social development. The meeting was attended by Iraq’s Ambassador to Cairo, Dr. Qahtan Al Janabi, and head of Media Department Mr. Fuad Ghazi.
