Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Visits Iraqi Embassy in Washington D.C

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein visited the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Washington D.C. on 28 April 2025, and met with Iraq’s Ambassador to the United States Mr. Nazar Al Khirullah, and the Embassy staff.
The visit came as part of following up the diplomatic workflow and strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States, coinciding with the Minister’s Talks with American officials during his current visit to Washington.
The Minister discussed with the Embassy staff means of developing the strategic partnership between the two countries, particularly in the fields of security, politics, and economy, in line with the agreements signed between the two sides especially the Strategic Framework Agreement.
As well the meeting addressed the ongoing preparations for the upcoming meeting of the U.S.-Iraq Higher Coordinating Committee, which will discuss cooperation in several areas, and underlined the importance of good preparation for these meetings. Minister Hussein commended the great efforts made by the Ambassador and the Embassy staff in this regard, in addition the Minister indicated the importance of enhancing coordination between the two countries in light of current regional developments.
In the same context, Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed the need to simplify consular services provided to the Iraqi community in the United States, emphasizing the importance of improving quality of the services.
On his part, Ambassador Al Khirullah expressed his appreciation for this visit, describing it as “a step in support of diplomatic work, that comes under major circumstances and challenges facing the region “.
