Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Discusses Ways to Enhance Bilateral Relations and Regional Coordination in Manama

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Bahraini Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, at Gudaibiya Palace in Manama, on Monday 21 April 2025.
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well the two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, and affirmed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in supporting regional and international stability
The two sides highlighted the importance of further developing the historical relations between the two brotherly countries, particularly in the political, economic, and cultural areas, stressing the importance of enhancing joint cooperation to serve the interests of both peoples. In addition Minister Fuad Hussein expressed Iraq’s aspiration to strengthen its partnership with Bahrain, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and infrastructure, in light of the country’s stability and promising growth opportunities.
On his part, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa appreciated the strong fraternal relations between Iraq and Bahrain, commending the mutual willingness to develop them in line with the aspirations of both sides. Additionally the meeting addressed regional and international developments, particularly the security and economic challenges facing the region.
As well Both sides stressed the need to intensify coordination and consultation between the two countries in regional and international forums, which would contribute to enhancing security and peace, Minister Hussein reiterated Iraq’s support for peaceful political solutions, and appreciated Bahrain’s role in consolidating regional stability.
The meeting ended with an emphasis on dialogue as the ideal means of resolving crises and avoiding escalation, while calling for the international community to adopt diplomatic approaches that contribute to building trust and enhancing understanding between countries. In addition both sides expressed optimism regarding the future of bilateral relations, affirming their commitment to moving forward towards an effective and sustainable partnership.
