Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Receives Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Manama to Hold Bilateral Talks

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein arrived in the Kingdom of Bahrain on an official visit on Sunday evening 20 April 2025, the Minister was received by Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani.

The meeting discussed means of developing and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in the economic, tourism, and security sectors, in addition to discussing the latest regional and international developments.

Bahrain’s Foreign Minister commended the level of Iraqi-Bahraini relations, affirming the importance of developing them through increased trade and investment exchange and organizing mutual visits between the representatives of the public and private sectors. As well Dr. Alzayani appreciated Minister Fuad Hussein’s efforts in strengthening relations between the two countries.

On his part, Minister Fuad Hussein stressed the importance of joint work in the areas of tourism, aviation, and security, expressing Baghdad and Manama’s convergence of views on regional and international issues, in addition Iraq’s Foreign Minister called for organizing joint workshops and increasing official visits to strengthen the bilateral partnership, indicating that Iraq has actually started to build a strong private sector to support the national economy. Minister Hussein affirmed that achieving stability is a prerequisite for development, noting that Iraq had not witnessed true stability over the past five decades under the former regime due to wars, blockades, and internal conflicts that weakened its infrastructure.

Additionally, the meeting touched on the current Arab situation, as both sides affirmed the importance of strengthening Arab cohesion to confront common challenges and working to develop effective mechanisms to achieve peace and stability in the region.

In this context, Minister Fuad Hussein emphasized that “stability is the foundation upon which development is built,” while his Bahraini counterpart emphasized that “the Arab world is in dire need of unity and mutual support, in light of the rapid changes the world is witnessing”.
