Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Concludes his Participation in Antalya Forum with High level Diplomatic and Security Meetings

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein concluded his participation in the fourth edition of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025, held from April 11 to 13, under the theme “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World”.  The Forum brought together heads of state and government, foreign ministers, and representatives of international organizations. Minister Hussein participation included a series of bilateral and high-level security meetings, in addition to attending the Forum sessions that discussed key regional and international challenges.

On 13 April, MinisterHussein headed the Iraqi delegation to the Iraq-Turkey 5th High level Security Mechanism Meeting, which was held with the participation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and high-level delegations from both sides, during the meeting they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the security, political, and economic areas. 

On the sidelines of the forum, the Minister held bilateral meetings with a number of his counterparts and senior international officials, on 11 April, Minister Hussein met with Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, during which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade and investment. On the same day, he received Yemeni Foreign Minister Mr. Shayea Mohsen Al Zindani,as he was briefed on the latest security developments in Yemen, and affirmed Iraq’s support for political solutions based on Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue.

Additionally, the Minister met at the same day with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh, as the two sides discussed prospects for strengthening bilateral relations. Minister Hussein was optimistic about the ongoing talks between Iran and the United States in the Sultanate of Oman.

On April 12, he met with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto, as the two sides discussed areas of joint cooperation, particularly in the energy and trade sectors, benefiting from the historical relations between the two countries within the framework of OPEC. As well the Minister met with the European Union Special Representative for the Gulf region Mr. Luigi Di Maio, and the discussion focused on developments in Gaza and Syria, with Iraq emphasizing the importance of diplomatic solutions to crises in the region.

On the sidelines of his participation in the forum the Minister met with several media outlets, including TRT Turkey, NTV, Anadolu Agency, TRT Arabic, RT Arabic, and CNN Türk, where he reviewed Iraq’s positions on key regional and international issues.

At the end of his participation, the Foreign Minister affirmed that Iraq is working hard to strengthen Arab solidarity by hosting the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad on May 17, which will witness broad participation from member states. In addition the Minister indicated that the meetings he held on the sidelines of the forum reflect Iraq’s commitment to building strategic partnerships that support the security, stability, and prosperity of the region.
