Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and Finnish Counterpart Discusses Security Cooperation and Iraqi Community Affairs

On 27 February 2025, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, met with the State Secretary of Finland Mr. Antti Salminen, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital Helsinki, as part of the Undersecretary’s visit to Finland, to hold a round of political consultations between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance security cooperation and exchange information, in addition to facilitating procedures related to the Iraqi community residing in Finland. They also discussed mechanisms to support mutual visits between the two peoples and enhance cultural cooperation, as well the meeting touched on the possibility of reconsidering the level of travel warnings issued by Finland towards Iraq, in line with the security improvement and available investment opportunities.

At the end of the meeting, Undersecretary Bahr Aluloom extended an official invitation to State Secretary Salminen to visit Iraq, stressing that this visit will contribute to enhancing bilateral cooperation and send positive messages to Finnish investors and citizens interested in visiting Iraq.
