Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Receives Member of Council of Representatives Jawad Al Bolani

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Member of the Council of Representatives Mr. Jawad Al Bolani, at the Ministry’s headquarters on Thursday 27 February 2025. 

The two sides discussed several issues of common concern including the role of the Council of Representatives in supporting Iraq’s foreign policy, and ways to enhance cooperation between the government and the Council of Representatives to serve the country’s higher interests.

The meeting also discussed the issue of the parliamentary committee on developing the national security strategy, as both sides affirmed the importance of preparing a comprehensive strategy that enhances security and stability in the country and keeps pace with evolving security challenges at the internal and external levels.

The meeting also touched on the file of Iraqi detainees abroad, and ways to follow up on their legal and humanitarian situations through diplomatic channels. The issue of opening a consular office in Al Diwaniyah was also discussed, to provide consular services and facilitate procedures for citizens in the city and neighboring areas.

Minister Hussein emphasized the need of continued coordination between the government and the Council of Representatives to achieve political and economic stability in Iraq. On his part, Mr. Al Bolani expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Foreign Ministry to enhance Iraq’s position on the international arena.
