Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Azerbaijani Counterpart to Discuss Strengthening Economic Cooperation and Activating of Flights

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov, in Munich on 15 February 2025. During the meeting, the two sides commended the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, stressing the cultural commonalities which contribute to enhancing cooperation across various fields.
The Minister called for reactivating the airline between Baghdad and Baku, and establishing a new flight route between Baku and Erbil, with the aim of strengthening economic relations, especially in the tourism sector.
As well Minister Hussein extended an invitation to the Azerbaijani companies specialized in the field of oil and gas to invest in Iraq, noting the availability of many promising opportunities in this sector.
On his part, Minister Bayramov inquired about the available investment opportunities in Iraq, as Minister Hussein confirmed the possibility of discussing this file extensively during his upcoming visit to Baghdad. The meeting also touched on the events of the Munich Security Conference.
At the end of the discussions, the Minister extended an official invitation to his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit Iraq and discuss investment opportunities and enhance economic relations between both countries. Minister Bayramov welcomed the invitation, indicating he will fulfil it after Ramadan.
