Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets British Minister for International Development to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Challenges

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the British Minister for International Development Ms. Anneliese Dodds, on 15 February 2025.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom, in addition to developments in the region and the challenges facing Iraq in light of these changes.
Minister Dodds stressed the UK’s keenness to support Iraq in facing security and economic challenges, commending the recent visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to the United Kingdom, and the discussions she held with the Minister of Planning on development issues and the population census that was recently conducted in Iraq.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
On his part, Minister Hussein valued the historical relations between the two countries, which constitute an incentive to enhance joint cooperation, noting that Iraq is working hard to reintegrate Iraqis returning from the Al Hol and Roj camps in Syria.
His Excellency expressed his aspiration to enhance cooperation with the United Kingdom within the framework of Iraq’s presidency of the G77, especially in the field of development.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister extended an official invitation to Ms. Dodds to visit Iraq, on her part the British Minister welcomed the invitation.
