Foreign Minister Meets CEO of International Crisis Group in Munich to Discuss Regional Issues and Tensions

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the President and Chief Executive Officer of the International Crisis Group Ms. Comfort Ero, in Munich on 14 February 2025. 

During the meeting, the two sides discussed situation in Syria and its repercussions on regional stability, as well they touched on the threats of Da’esh terrorist organization and its impact on the security situation in Iraq. In addition they discussed the security agreement between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the memorandum of understanding between Turkey and Iraq in the same context.

Furthermore, the meeting dealt with the relationship with Iran under the current U.S. administration, and the impact of recent political changes on the region in general. 

At the end of the meeting, Minister Hussein extended an official invitation to Ms. Ero to visit Iraq, in her turn she welcomed the invitation, stressing her keenness to enhance cooperation and continued communication on issues of common interest.
