Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets French President in Paris to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regionalً Developments

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with the French President Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the Paris conference on Syria on 13 February 2025. 

During the meeting, Minister Hussein affirmed the profound Iraqi-French relations and reviewed the latest security developments in the region especially in the Syrian arena, and ways to combat Da’esh terrorist organization and the groups associated with it that started to expand it activities on the Iraqi-Syrian border. 

As well the Minister underlined the need to plan for joint action and implement proactive operations in coordination with the new administration in Syria and the Global Coalition Forces.

In another context, the Minister briefed the French President on the ongoing preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit in Baghdad, in addition to the possibility of holding the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership. 

On his part, the French President renewed his support for Iraq and its stability, affirming the importance of continuing joint cooperation between the two countries across various areas.
