Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Participates in Paris Conference on Syria

On 13 February 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, participated in Paris International Conference on Syria.
In his speech, the Minister affirmed Iraq’s full support for the Syrian people and underlined the importance of joint coordination to combat terrorism and enhance regional security, stressing the necessity of ensuring a peaceful transfer of power by encouraging national dialogue among all components of the Syrian people, while benefiting from the Iraqi political experience.
On his part, the French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed his country’s readiness to provide political, security, economic and humanitarian support to the Syrian government and people.
The conference focussed on three main objectives which are: coordinating efforts to support a peaceful political transition that ensures the representation of all components of the Syrian people and preserves the country’s sovereignty and security.
And enhancing cooperation between Syria’s neighboring countries and their key partners to improve mechanisms for providing humanitarian aid and supporting and stabilizing the Syrian economy.
As well discussing issues of transitional justice and fight against impunity based on experiences gained inside and outside Syria.
