Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Chairs 10th Preparatory Meeting for Arab Summit in Baghdad

On 11 February 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein chaired the 10th preparatory meeting for the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Baghdad during the current year. The meeting was attended by a number of high-level officials including the Minister of Interior Mr. Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fakak Al Badrani, the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Dr. Hameed Naeem Al Ghazi, and the Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Administrative and Technical Affairs Dr. Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al Dulaimi, in addition to representatives of other relevant authorities.
The meeting discussed the latest developments related to the ongoing preparations for hosting the 34th Arab Summit in Baghdad, as the attendees reviewed the readiness status across several organizational sectors, to ensure the success of the summit and highlight Iraq as a secure and stable country that plays an active role in the Arab region.
Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed the importance of enhancing coordination among all the concerned parties to ensure the organization of the summit at the highest levels, underlining the need to intensify the efforts of specialized committees to follow up on organizational and technical aspects, including security, health and service arrangements, to ensure the optimal reception of participating Arab delegations.
The Foreign Minister indicated that Iraq is working on preparing a comprehensive agenda for the summit that will address the most prominent Arab issues, most notably enhancing economic cooperation between Arab countries, and supporting efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.
Hosting the Arab Summit in Iraq is an important step that reflects its rising status at the Arab and regional levels, as participants in the meeting emphasized that holding the summit in Baghdad reflects Iraq’s pivotal role in enhancing stability and supporting joint Arab cooperation.
These preparatory meetings come within the intensive efforts exerted by the Iraqi government to ensure the success of the upcoming Arab Summit, scheduled to be held in Baghdad during the current year.
