Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sign with Moroccan Counterpart MoU on Mutual Visa Exemption for Diplomatic Passports Holders

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Mr. Nasser Bourita, signed on 8 February 2025, a Mutual memorandum of understanding on entry visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports at the headquarters of the Moroccan Foreign Ministry.
During a joint press conference, Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed that there are great opportunities to enhance joint cooperation with the Kingdom of Morocco, underlining the importance of launching direct flights between both countries to facilitate movement and strengthen economic and investment relations. As well as the Minister commended the opening of the Moroccan Embassy in Baghdad considering it an important development in the track of bilateral relations.
Furthermore, the Minister referred to the profound historical ties between Iraq and Morocco, outlining that Iraq was one of the first countries to recognize the Kingdom of Morocco upon its establishment, he also stressed that his visit to Morocco included an intensive program that involved discussing multiple files, indicating Iraq’s support for the unity of Moroccan territories and the Kingdom’s policies in many regional and international issues.
The meeting touched on several political, economic, and commercial issues, as they reviewed regional and international situations, chief among them the Palestinian issue and the recent developments in the region. Minister Fuad Hussein stressed the seriousness of the proposals related to the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination with Morocco in international and regional forums.
On his part, Minister Bourita confirmed that Minister Hussein’s visit comes within the framework of the strong relations between the two countries, noting that bilateral relations have witnessed a remarkable development during the recent period, especially with the reopening of the embassies which reflects the depth of ties between Iraq and Morocco, as well he stressed the possibility of achieving further progress by strengthening joint economic and investment cooperation.
At the end of the conference, Minister Bourita congratulated Iraq on the stability and development it accomplished, stressing that Iraq is a pivotal and effective country in Arab issues and that the upcoming Arab summit will be the culmination of its diplomatic efforts to enhance joint Arab action.
