Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Chairman of Ministerial Council for Economy Visits Tanger Med Port in Morocco

Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Economy Mr. Fuad Hussein, paid a working visit to Tanger Med Port in the Kingdom of Morocco, on 7 February 2025. This visit comes as part of strengthening economic relations between the two countries and exploring opportunities for joint cooperation in the areas of maritime transport and logistics services.

During the visit, Minister Fuad Hussein listened to a detailed explanation from the port officials regarding the mechanism of its management and operation, including its advanced infrastructure and the modern technologies used to accelerate loading and unloading processes. As well they reviewed the role of the port as one of the most significant logistics centers in the Mediterranean region, in addition to its contribution to enhancing international trade and facilitating the movement of goods between Europe, Africa and the Arab world. 

The Minister affirmed the importance of this visit in enhancing economic cooperation between Iraq and Morocco, adding that Tangier Med Port is a successful model that can be used in developing Iraqi ports. As well he indicated that this visit comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts to diversify Iraq’s economic partnerships and enhance its role in international trade.

On their part, the port officials welcomed the visit and expressed their readiness to cooperate and exchange expertise to develop Iraqi ports, and to discuss details of joint cooperation in the fields of maritime transport and logistics services, which contributes to achieving sustainable development for the two countries.
