Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Discusses Strengthening Bilateral Collaboration with Russian Special Envoy

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov, on 5 February 2025.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and Russia with a focus on the high level of understanding between the foreign ministries of both Baghdad and Moscow. As well as they highlighted the importance of holding a meeting of the Iraqi-Russian Joint Committee during the current month, in addition to the need to discuss the economic aspects between the two countries within the committee’s work, especially with regard to Russian oil companies operating in Iraq, and ways to develop their work.
Additionally, they commended the in-depth political dialogue between both countries and the understandings regarding the events occurring in the region, in addition to emphasizing the importance of following up the implementation of the agreements and memorandums of understanding that were signed during the recent visit of the Iraqi Prime Minister to Moscow.
The meeting was attended by: Mr. Maxim Maksimov First Deputy Director of the Middle East and North Africa Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mr. Elbrus Kutrashev the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iraq, Mr. Sergey Afanasyev Special Representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Russian Armed Forces, Mr. Alexander Dyukov Chairman and CEO of Gazprom Neft, and Mr. Anton Galabov, Deputy Chairman and CEO, of Gazprom Neft.
