Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Arab League Assistant Secretary General to Discuss Preparations for Arab Summit in Baghdad

On 30 January 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States Ambassador Hossam Zaki, and his accompanying delegation, which included several members of the Preparatory Committee for the Arab Summit in its 34th regular session scheduled to be held in Baghdad.
Ambassador Hossam Zaki, conveyed the greetings of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to Minister Hussein, who in turn welcomed the delegation and extended his appreciation for the visit, in addition his excellency stressed Iraq’s keenness to ensure the Summit success in a way that reflects the true image of Iraq as a country that enjoys security and stability.
The two sides discussed the ongoing preparations for hosting the Arab Summit as Minister Hussein reviewed the efforts exerted by the Iraqi Government to provide all logistical and technical requirements, referring to the formation of specialized committees to supervise various organizational and technical aspects. As well the Minister underlined the need to strengthen continued coordination with the League of Arab States to ensure achieving the highest levels of readiness.
Additionally the meeting exchange views on topics related to the summit agenda, especially political, economic and media issues. Minister Fuad Hussein outlined that Iraq is working on preparing a comprehensive agenda that addresses the most prominent Arab issues, including enhancing Arab economic cooperation and supporting efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.
On his part Ambassador Hossam Zaki commended the ongoing Iraqi preparations for hosting the Summit, stressing the Arab League’s support for Iraq in organizing this important event and expressing his confidence that it will be an effective platform to enhance joint Arab action and confront regional challenges.
This meeting comes as part of the intensified efforts made by the Iraqi Government to ensure the success of the upcoming Arab Summit.
