Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Chairman of Palestinian Supreme Council for Youth and Sports

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, received on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports of Palestine and the Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement Mr. Jibril Rajoub, accompanied by the Palestinian Ambassador to Iraq Mr. Ahmed Al Ruwaidi, and with the attendance of the head of Iraqi Football Association, Mr. Adnan Darjal.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian arena, in addition to ways of finding appropriate solutions to address the current challenges. 

Minister Hussein expressed his concern over the escalation of events in the West Bank, warning of the dangers of expanding the scope of war and attempts to empty the Palestinian land of its people, reiterating Iraq’s categorical rejection of any attempts aimed at imposing forced displacement on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

Additionally, the Minister affirmed Iraq’s consistent and principled position in supporting the Palestinian cause, and its readiness to exert maximum efforts and endeavors to support the Palestinian people and support their legitimate rights, foremost of which is their right to establish their independent state.

On his part, Mr. Rajoub emphasized his country’s keenness to strengthen relations with Iraq across various areas, highlighting the profound historical ties between the two countries, and affirming the unity of common stance and principles.
