Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with Armenian Ambassador

Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, received the Armenian Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Ruben Soghoyan on 22 January 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.

At the beginning of the meeting, Undersecretary Bahr Aluloom welcomed the Armenian Ambassador and congratulated him on appointing him as Ambassador of Armenia to Iraq, wishing him success in his new duties, in addition he stressed the keenness of the Foreign Ministry to provide all forms of support to enhance the success of his mission in Baghdad and raise the level of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The meeting dealt with the bilateral ties between Baghdad and Yerevan, as the two sides emphasized the need to strengthening joint cooperation across various areas, especially in the areas of education, health, trade, and transportation. They also discussed the necessary arrangements for the visit of an Armenian parliamentary delegation to Baghdad, and the visit of a delegation from the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce to Armenia. In addition, preparations for holding the fourth session of the joint committee meetings between the two countries this year in Armenia were discussed.

Additionally, the two sides reviewed ways to activate and sign a set of bilateral agreements that would enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries, while they underlined the importance of exchanging visits between officials from both countries.

On his part, the Armenian Ambassador expressed his happiness to work in Iraq, affirming his aspiration to expand the horizons of bilateral cooperation between Baghdad and Yerevan.
