Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets his Finnish Counterpart on the Sidelines of Davos Forum

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland Ms. Elina Valtonen, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
During the meeting the two ministers discussed means of enhancing and developing bilateral relations to serve the common interests of the two countries, in addition to discussing strengthening economic cooperation between them.
As well the meeting touched on the developments in the political situation in the Middle East, with attaching special importance on the political changes in Syria. Minister Hussein affirmed the importance of the close connection between security in Syria and regional security, noting that any impact on one reflects on the other. The Minister stressed the importance of adopting the language of dialogue as a way to reduce tensions and ensure regional stability.
In the context of strengthening economic cooperation, the Minister extended an invitation to the Finnish companies to contribute to the reconstruction efforts in Iraq, pointing to the promising investment opportunities made available by the security stability in the country.
Additionally the Minister invited Minister Valtonen to visit Iraq to view the security and political situation directly, and to work on enhancing joint cooperation across various areas.
