Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Baghdad

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the new Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad Mr. Daniel Rubinstein, on 18 January 2025.

The Minister congratulated Mr. Rubinstein on assuming his new duties and underlined the profound Iraqi-American ties, as well he expressed Iraq’s aspiration to enhance bilateral cooperation under the new U.S. administration.

The meeting discussed in depth the bilateral relations between the two countries, in addition to reviewing regional situations especially in Syria. As well the two sides touched on the current political developments and the pivotal role played by Western countries most notably the United States, in the course of events inside Syria.

The two parties discussed the outcomes of the Riyadh Meetings on Syria, which witnessed the participation of the United States Under Secretary of State. Additionally they stressed the importance of following up on the Meetings recommendations.

At the end of the meeting Minister Fuad Hussein underlined the importance of strengthening collaboration between Iraq and the United States in a way that serves common interests and contributes to achieving regional stability.
