Statement

The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Iraq welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which comes after great sacrifices and much suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. The Ministry commends the great efforts made by the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America to achieve this agreement, stressing that these endeavors reflect the importance of international cooperation to stop the suffering of civilians and ensure stability in the region.

As well, the Foreign Ministry calls for the need to immediately allow the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip and the affected Palestinian territories, and to meet the basic needs of the Palestinian people. The Ministry stresses the need of intensifying international efforts to rebuild the areas that were destroyed by the aggression, in a way that ensures the return of life to normal and improves the living conditions of the population.

The Republic of Iraq reiterates its firm and supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, stressing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination in the manner for which they are struggling.
