Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Receives Dutch Defense Minister to Strengthen Collaboration and Counter Terrorism
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein received the Dutch Defense Minister Mr. Ruben Brekelmans and his accompanying delegation, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad on 22 December 2024.
The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and the Netherlands, especially in the areas of military and intelligence cooperation within the counterterrorism efforts.
As well both sides touched on the latest security developments in the region, emphasizing on not giving the chance to terrorism to exploit the current events in Syria. During the meeting Minister Fuad Hussein outlined the Iraqi vision regarding the current situation and developments in Syria from the political and security aspects, underlining the need for continued coordination between the two countries and exchanging visits with the aim of exchanging experiences and enhancing joint cooperation.
At the end of the meeting the two sides stressed the importance of the active role of the international community in supporting Syria and its people, after their great hardships over the past years.
