Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets Special Presidential Coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security Amos Hochstein

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, met with Mr. Amos Hochstein Special Presidential Coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security, as part of continuing intensive meetings with American officials to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America, at the White House on Friday March 22, 2024.

During the meeting they discussed the security situation in the region and the its impact on economy and the market, especially the energy market, in addition to they discussed the role of international companies in the oil industries in Iraq, and the investment process in Iraqi gas fields.

Meanwhile Mr. Hochstein touched on the problems some American oil companies in the Kurdistan region of Iraq are facing, due to the inability to export, in this regard minister Hussein referred to the work of these companies, and the federal government view from one side and the region’s view on the other side to the problem of exporting oil from the Kurdistan region of Iraq through the oil pipeline that connects the region to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

On his part, Mr. Hochstein expressed his country’s readiness to enhance ways of cooperation, especially in the field of energy, oil and gas, hoping to solve the oil issues between the federal government and the region for its importance and impact on the oil sector, and companies operating in the area and the oil market.
