Foreign Minister Speaking to New Pakistani Ambassador: We Need to Intensify Efforts to Activate Mutual Interests, Confront Common Risks, and Coordinate in All Fields, Most Importantly Intelligence Cooperation, Religious Tourism, and Increase Number of Visitors to the Holy Shrines

On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a copy of the credentials of Ahmed Amjad Ali, the new Pakistani Ambassador in Baghdad.

They discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Islamabad, and ways of strengthening them in the interests of the two friendly peoples.

The Minister wished the Ambassador all success in his work tasks in Baghdad, expressing willingness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide all support for the success of the work of the diplomatic mission in Iraq, calling on: We need to intensify efforts to activate mutual interests, face common risks, and coordinate in all fields, the most importantly security and intelligence cooperation to limit the spread of terrorism, and religious tourism and increase the number of visitors to the Holy Shrines.

The Minister described the Iraqi-Pakistani relations as good, expressing Baghdad’s desire in advancing them to the level of the aspirations of the two friendly peoples.

For his part, Mr. Ahmed Amjad Ali, Pakistan’s new Ambassador in Baghdad, stressed that Iraq and Pakistan enjoy deep friendship, and we have deep shared roots between our two peoples, and hecongratulated Iraq on the victories achieved against the terrorist gangs of ISIS.

The Pakistani Ambassador clarified that our twocountries have faced the brutality of terrorism, and we have been victorious in fighting it and defeating it, and we must continue to cooperate in exchanging experiences in the field of combating terrorism, addingwe will do our utmost to strengthen economic, commercial, investment, agricultural and scientific relations.
