Minister of Foreign Affairs discusses ways to strengthen relations between Iraq and Estonia

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein expressed the government’s interest in developing bilateral relations between Iraq and Estonia at all levels, and the importance of consultation on regional and international issues of common interest. This came when His Excellency received a phone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Ms. Eva-Maria Liimets. 

The two Ministers discussed prospects for intensifying bilateral cooperation in all fields, including: Estonia investment in the Iraqi market, trade exchange, and expanding the work of e-governance, pointing to the great opportunities in the field of business institutions in Iraq. 

They discussed the issue of immigration and immigrants, and they agreed to increase coordination between Iraq and the European Union countries in order to reach understandings that serve the common interests of both sides. 

For her part, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Estonia touched on illegal immigration to Lithuania because it also affects other countries in the European Union and the need to take some joint measures to prevent human trafficking. The two ministers agreed on the need to communicate in the near future to develop mechanisms to address the situation.
