Iraqi Chargé d’Affaires in Berlin Participates in Special Economic Symposium on Iraq.

On 7 June 2021, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Berlin, Mr. Ahmed Al-Saadi, participated in the economic symposium on Iraq, which was organized by the German Economic Cooperation Association with the Near and Middle East (NUMOV) with the participation of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Baghdad, Dr. Ole Diehl (via video conference) and the members of the association’s board of directors, Mr. Uwe Stupperich, CEO of (MG) International Transportation, in addition to the presence of a number of directors of German companies operating in Iraq, and economic figures interested in investing in Iraq.
Mr. Al-Saadi reviewed the National Investment Map 2020-2021 launched by the Iraqi government as part of the National Development Plan 2018-2022, saying that the map details all investment opportunities, provides all investors with the necessary information, and gives a broad overview of the tax and banking system in Iraq, as well as all the indicators of geographical locations for investment in Iraq.
He added that the plan is very ambitious and important because it facilitates the investment process and clearly identifies all government objectives to revive the economic reality and establish a strong private sector. He called on all the participants in the symposium, including the owners of companies, to engage strongly in the process of rebuilding Iraq.
For his part, the Ambassador Diehl, confirmed that the government of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi is on the right path politically and economically, and may see the results of reforms, especially in the economic aspect, adding that the Iraqi government is continuing to carry out its tasks, which is to reform the economic situation, consolidate security and hold elections. He added that he felt the seriousness of the Iraqi government in holding the elections on 10 October 2021, explaining that he had had many meetings with Iraqi officials, especially with the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ali Allawi, and commended at the same time the (white paper) proposed by the Iraqi government to reform the economic and financial situation.
