Iraq Supports Draft Resolution on Health Conditions in Palestine and the Syrian Golan

The Chargé d’affaires a.i of the representation of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations office in Geneva, Dr. Abbas Kadhim Obaid participated in the virtual session of the 73rd World Health Assembly to discuss the Palestinian draft resolution submitted to the Health Assembly regarding health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Quds and the occupied Syrian Golan.

The Chargé d’affaires delivered  Iraq’s statement expressing Iraq’s support for the draft resolution, stressing the need to continue providing technical support and capacity building in the health field to ensure access to health care for the Palestinian people, including prisoners and detainees, in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, as well as providing assistance in the field of health for the Syrian people in the occupied Golan, meeting their needs and allowing international organizations to access these areas periodically and assess the health and living conditions  adding that Iraq voted in favor of the resolution, which won 78 votes, while 14 countries voted against it, and 38 countries abstained from voting.
