Foreign Minister Participates in Tripartite Coordination Meeting at Ministerial Level with Jordanian and Egyptian Counterparts
Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, along with his Jordanian and Egyption counterparts Mr.Ayman Al-Safadi, and Mr. Sameh Shoukry, participated in a meeting in Cairo to discuss several files and the important issues of interest to the three countries.
The meeting discussed strengthening tripartite cooperation, and the need to support joint action by adopting various understandings and partnerships that include political, security, energy, industry, trade and housing fields.
The tripartite meeting built on supporting Iraq in reconstruction, stressing the activation of investment, trade exchange, developing the energy sector, promoting joint industrial zones, and cultural cooperation. They also emphasized cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, and supporting Iraq’s efforts to eliminate the remnants of Da’esh terrorist organization.
The Ministers agreed to hold meetings for the working group concerned with following up the work of the tripartite summit, and coordinating economic, development, political, security and cultural cooperation.
They also discussed regional and international issues that reflect on the higher vital interests of the three countries, and concluded the importance of coordinating positions in order to provide comprehensive solutions that end the crises facing the region, particularly the first issue of Palestine, as well as Syria, Libya and Yemen.
Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein affirmed the importance of intensifying consultations, explaining that this position stems from the fact that instability in the region is a cause for concern and a cause of turmoil in the region as a whole,therefore the Minister views the importance of continuing cooperation, and implementing the results agreed upon into practical steps to exit the status quo, restore stability in the region, and overcome crises.
This tripartite meeting in Cairo comes within the framework of implementing the outcomes of the tripartite summit meeting that brought together Prime Minister Mr. Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Mr. Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, as it comes as a continuation of other ministerial meetings that were held at a former time.
