The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in Rome Meets with Italian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs

The Ambassador of Republic of Iraq in Rome Mrs. Safia Al-Suhail met with the Italian Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Mrs. Marina Sereni, during the meeting they discussed bilateral relations and the prospects for advancing them on various security, political and economic levels.

Ambassador Al-Suhail expressed Iraq’s welcome to a greater presence of Italy and its companies in the reconstruction, and the importance cooperation with the Italian Foreign Ministry and relevant institutions to activate the economic and investment sector, calling for the meetings of the fourth session of the Iraqi-Italian Joint Committee in Baghdad to be held before the end of this year, and Iraq’s willingness to provide facilities.

They also discussed the opportunities available to support the Iraqi health sector to face the emerging Coronavirus pandemic and its health and economic implications.

Ambassador Al-Suhail reviewed developments in the security situation in Iraq, the victories achieved by our armed forces in combating terrorism, as well as the issuance of laws, decisions and procedures on national level, and Baghdad’s cooperation with specialized international institutions on drying the sources of terrorist financing and money laundering.
