Foreign Minister Participates in Emergency Meeting of League of Arab States Council at Ministerial Level

Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein confirmed Iraq’s position that calls on the peaceful settlement of disputes, and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries, referring to the latest developments in Libya and stated that the Republic of Iraq supports all regional and international initiatives that help in strengthening security and stability in Libya, and assists in resolving their differences by peaceful means, expressing Iraq’s rejection of external interference in the internal affairs of Libya, and the preservation of its unity both government and people.

Minister Fuad Hussein considered that the cause for external interference is the result of disputes among Arab countries, calling on the Libyan brothers to unify their word in order to preserve the security and stability of their homeland.

This came in the speech of Iraq delivered by Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein during his participation in the emergency meeting of the League of Arab States Council to discuss developments in Libya and the Ethiopian Renaissance dam crisis.

The Minister expressed Iraq’s position on the Renaissance Dam crisis by stating that the Republic of Iraq affirms support for the rights of the Arab countries Egypt and Sudan in the waters of the Nile River, and support their efforts to reach a final agreement for a fair division that guarantees the rights of other riparian states in accordance with the provisions of international law governing international rivers and called on the Ethiopian side to reach an understanding with the Arab countries concerned to ensure their legitimate rights in the waters of the Nile River.
