The Chargé d’affairs of Iraq to Permanent Representation in Geneva Participates in Virtual Meeting with WHO Middle East Office on Coronavirus Pandemic
The Chargé d’affairs to the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Iraq in Geneva Dr. Abbas Kadhim Obaid participated in the virtual meeting of the member States of the WHO Middle East Office.
The meeting discussed procedures, constraints, challenges and future ideas for the office to address the emerging coronavirus.
The Chargé d’affaires at the meeting presented a briefing on the measures taken by the Iraqi Ministry of Health in cooperation with the relevant Iraqi institutions to address the Coronavirus and limit its spread, confirming the continuation of the Ministry of Health staff in field visits to health and security institutions on the importance of the safety and health of citizens, residents, and visitors.
The Charge d’affaires also spoke about the role of the Foreign Ministry in coordination with the concerned authorities in the evacuation of Iraqi nationals stranded in the countries of the world, praising the positions of the countries that responded to Iraq’s request to facilitate the return flights.
The Director General of the Regional Office, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mundhiri moderated the meeting, and he presented a summary of the office’s keenness to provide support to the countries of the region, which are medical teams to the countries with the highest incidence of infections, and thanked the countries of the region that donated to the pandemic support fund.
