Foreign Minister Meets Chinese Ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Zhang Tao

Foreign Minister Mr. Mohamad A. Alhakim met with Chinese Ambassador to Baghdad Mr. Zhang Tao. They discussed prospects of enhancing relations and bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two friendly peoples.

Minister Alhakim stressed that Iraq is interested in strengthening coordination frameworks and cooperation with Beijing at all levels, pointing out that China is an important strategic partner for Iraq, noting the need to increase the volume of investments in the areas of energy and infrastructure.

Minister Alhakim stressed that the government emphasizes on the importance of exceptional cooperation and continuous coordination in all fields and at all levels, explaining that Iraq and its government sets all diplomatic and legal options at the forefront of its priorities; to prevent any external interference in its internal affairs and to safeguard the security and sovereignty of Iraq and its people.
The two sides also discussed regional issues of common interest, developments in the Middle East, Iraq’s vision of a solution and an end to crises.
