Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo Meets His Holiness Pope Tawadros II
Ambassador Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi, Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States met with His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark, at the Cathedral of St. Mark in Abbasiyah.
The two sides discussed the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and the importance of co-existence between the heavenly religions in the Arab world.
On his part, Ambassador Al-Dulaimi expressed the role of the Iraqi Government in providing a safe environment for the return of displaced Christian families to their liberated areas in the city of Nineveh, stressing the determination of the Iraqi government to rebuild and rehabilitate all churches and monasteries targeted by Da’esh terrorist gangs stressing that the Christians of Iraq are an important component and have a major role in the political process.
Pope Tawadros II stressed the importance of the relations between Iraq and Egypt and the role of the Mesopotamian and Egyptian civilizations in the ancient human communication and expressed appreciation for the support of the Iraqi government in the opening of the Coptic Church recently in Baghdad.
