The Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Zagreb held a celebration on the occasion of the centenary of founding the modern Iraqi state at the embassy’s headquarters on Friday 10 December 2021.
In addition to the staff of the Embassy, a number of Iraqi community members in Croatia participated in the celebration. First, the attendees stood to hear the Iraqi national anthem, after that the Head of Mission Mr. Amer Abdulhussein Al-Fatlawi gave a speech welcoming the attendees and congratulated them and all Iraqis on the 100 anniversary of founding the Iraqi state that was the reason for uniting all the people of Iraq. Founding the Iraqi state, Mr. Al-Fatlawi added, was the event that represented a milestone in the modern history of Iraq and the beginning of a pivotal stage in building the country and its institutions after centuries of occupation and obliteration to the national Iraqi identity.
The Chargé d’affaires a.i. also congratulated the Iraqi people, the Iraqi armed forces, the Popular Mobilization forces, and the Peshmerga forces on the anniversary of victory over IS gang terrorists.
The Head of Mission also complimented the Iraqi community members for attending and participating despite the COVID-19 pandemic circumstances in Croatia, wishing that the next celebration would be greater and with the presence of all the Iraqi community in Croatia after the end of the pandemic.
